Opportunity Awards

In addition to the awards provided through Donaghue’s three current grant programs, the following awards were made since 2010. Most of these awards were made through funding partnerships with other organizations, and are a part of our Opportunity Award grant program.

Occasionally, we encounter prospects that align with the foundation’s mission but may not precisely meet the criteria outlined in our existing funding programs. These opportunities encompass diverse projects, including research initiatives, public or stakeholder engagement in research, and endeavors focused on augmenting evidence transfer. To address these unique prospects, we have introduced the concept of Opportunity Awards. These awards are strategically designed to assess how each opportunity aligns with our overarching goals:

  • Advancement of current grant programs: how these opportunities can further enrich and complement our existing grant initiatives, amplifying their impact and relevance
  • Exploration of potential new grant programs: critical consideration of the scope for potential new grant programs that resonate with our mission and target emerging areas of significance
  • Cultivation of meaningful partnerships: forming collaborative partnerships with external organizations, aiming to leverage collective expertise for enhanced research outcomes and broader societal impact
  • Influence on the evidence uptake environment: a thorough analysis of how selected opportunities can contribute to bolstering evidence uptake
