New Research, Relevant, & Ready (R3) Grantee: Dr. Katherine Abbott

Katherine Abbott, PhD | Miami University

We are excited to announce that Katherine Abbott, PhD, Executive Director and Professor of Gerontology at Miami University, has been awarded an R3 award for her project, “Developing and Disseminating Strategies for Nursing Homes to Fully Implement the Preferences for Everyday Living Inventory (PELI).” This award builds on her previous Donaghue-funded research that validated the effectiveness of the PELI in improving nursing home quality and resident satisfaction.

The new project aims to identify and disseminate best practices for implementing the PELI across nursing homes of varying resource levels. By conducting in-depth qualitative interviews and developing detailed case studies, the project will provide valuable insights and practical tools for broader adoption of person-centered care practices. This initiative underscores our commitment to enhancing the quality of life for nursing home residents through evidence-based, preference-driven care strategies.
